GENERAL & FAMILY DENTISTRY

Periodontal Care in Provo, UT

Inflamed gums tie to heart, diabetes, and airway inflammation. We treat gum disease as part of your whole-health picture, from gentle non-surgical care to Pinhole gingival grafting.

Who Benefits

Anyone with red, tender, or bleeding gums, gum recession, or a history of deep pockets and bone loss. Mouth breathing dries gums and worsens gum disease, so Dr. Bennett also evaluates the airway when it is part of the picture.

Inside the Visit

A full periodontal evaluation: pocket depth charting, X-rays, bleeding index, and a Pearl AI review of the radiographs. You see the actual numbers and get an honest read on where you are.

How We Treat

Non-surgical first, always. Deep cleanings (scaling and root planing) under local anesthetic resolve most cases, with laser therapy for pockets that do not respond. For gum recession, Dr. David Bennett and Dr. Mike Bennett provide the Pinhole Surgical Technique. After active treatment, 3 or 4 month maintenance cleanings keep gums stable.

PINHOLE® SURGICAL TECHNIQUE

Why choose the Pinhole® Surgical Technique?

A scalpel-free, suture-free approach to gum recession, performed by Dr. David Bennett and Dr. Mike Bennett.

FAQ

Periodontal, plainly answered.

Questions we get at almost every perio eval.

  • Do I really have gum disease?
If bleeding when you floss is common, probably yes at some level. Whether it's reversible gingivitis or bone-loss periodontitis is what the eval answers.
  • Do I need gum surgery?
Most patients don't. We start with non-surgical scaling + root planing. Surgery only enters the conversation if pockets don't stabilize after 6 months.
  • Why do gums matter for my heart or blood sugar?
Chronic gum inflammation feeds systemic inflammation. Well-managed gum disease is linked to better outcomes for both.
  • Does insurance cover perio?
Most dental plans cover deep cleanings once every 2 to 3 years. Ongoing perio maintenance is usually covered like a regular cleaning.
  • Can I keep my regular cleaning schedule?
Once you've had bone loss, no, 3- or 4-month cleanings are what stabilize the disease. It's the biggest factor in long-term success.
