FAQ
Restorative questions answered.
What patients usually want to know before scheduling.
-
Are CAD/CAM crowns as good as lab-made?
For most cases, yes. The material (lithium disilicate, e.max) is the same. We use lab crowns when the case calls for higher aesthetics (front teeth) or specific shading. -
Will it hurt?
Crown prep uses local anesthetic. Most patients describe the visit as 'long' rather than 'painful.' We pace it around your comfort. -
How long does a crown last?
Properly fitted crowns typically last 10 to 15 years. Longer with good hygiene and no clenching habits. Underlying issues (clenching, decay risk) are the biggest factor in longevity. -
Does insurance cover it?
Most dental plans cover crowns at 50 to 80% after deductible. We file claims and confirm coverage before treatment. -
What if my tooth can't be saved?
If extraction is the right call, we plan the replacement (implant, bridge) in the same visit so you have a clear path forward.

“We really like Dr. Smith a lot. He's very nice and is easy to work with. We like that he's conservative in his approach to doing dental work. He doesn't rush into things. He's willing to watch things over time and includes us in the decision making process. We feel confident in his dental skills when we do need something done. We highly recommend him!”
